Pain Management Massage
Pain management massage utilize several modalities to achieve optimal results. The include but not limited to the following:
Deep tissue massage is a specific type of massage therapy that concentrates on the deep layers of muscle and fascia (connective tissue) in the body. Massage therapists use deep finger pressure and slow, firm strokes. Deep tissue massage is used to treat chronic muscle tension.
Trigger-point massage therapy is specifically designed to alleviate the source of the pain through cycles of isolated pressure and release. Recipients actively participate through deep breathing as well as by identifying the exact location and intensity of the discomfort.
Myofascial release is a very effective hands-on technique that provides sustained pressure into myofascial restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. Myofascial Release involves engaging the fascial system of connective tissues
Thai massage is also called Thai yoga massage, because the therapist uses his or her hands, knees, legs, and feet to move you into a series of yoga-like stretches. Thai massage is usually done on a padded mat on the floor although it can also be adapted to a massage table. No oil is applied, so you are fully dressed. You are asked to wear comfortable clothing to the massage.
Therapeutic Stretching right after a massage increases the benefits of massage therapy.Stretching muscles that have become too tight is an effective way to restore posture, decrease tension in the body and reduce the rate of joint dysfunctions.
Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system - comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Using a soft touch, generally no greater than 5 grams or about the weight of a nickel, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system. By complementing the body's natural healing processes, CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and is effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction. This treatment is performed fully clothed.
Swedish massage is the most common and best known type of massage. It involves long, fluid strokes of muscles and tissues with pressure that varies from light to medium to firm.
Reflexology uses pressure-point massage and is applied to the feet, hands and ears to restore the flow of energy throughout the body. Reflexology is based on the belief that each part of the body is interconnected through the nervous system to the hands and feet. Oil or lotion is not used with reflexology.
